This talk addresses the causes of the Arab uprisings and their seemingly troubled path and aftermath. After debunking the snap-shot view pessimism that pervades the media, Haddad argues that generalizing often obscures the particular dynamics in each case of the Arab uprisings. He then goes on to address the factors that will continue to spur mass protests if elected governments or new leaderships do not adequately deal with them, and ends with a note on "Counter-Revolutions."
